Obtaining a visa for Türkiye

Ordinary U.S. passport holders are exempted from visa up to 90 days in any 180-day period. https://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa

For any other purpose of travel, the applicant must obtain a Turkish visa in advance from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye.

Official/Diplomatic Passport holders: Holders of official and diplomatic passports on official business must obtain a visa from a Turkish embassy or consulate before arrival in Türkiye.

U.S. citizens planning to remain in Türkiye for more than 90 days must also obtain a residence permit after arrival in Türkiye. Presidency of Migration Management (PMM) is the authority in Türkiye which may issue residence permits.

U.S. citizens should have a passport that is valid for six months beyond the planned entry date to Türkiye. Passports should have enough blank space to allow for entry and exit stamps.

In order to work in Turkiye, U.S. citizens should have a valid work permit. Republic of Turkiye Ministry of Labor and Social Security is the authority in Turkiye for work permits.
